Drafting your own patterns can seem very intimidating, but it is a really amazing skill to learn. To be able to draft and grade fashion patterns, you need special tools. One of the most important tools is a patternmaking ruler. We have designed a versatile see-through patternmaking and a grading ruler in ONE.

Our Patternmaking-grading ruler is a very user-friendly tool and can be used for many types of tasks.

The ruler is printed with a grid; that offers thin and thick lines, which indicate different measurements that are used in patternmaking. The grid lines across the whole ruler make it easy to accurately mark seam allowance from 1 mm to 50 mm.
This functionality is especially helpful when drawing the seam allowance around curves; you can line up the grid of the ruler to add seam allowance easily.

It is easy to square from the existing line to create new lines.

For pattern drafting, reference lines are very easy to see and follow.

There are bias or cross lines on the ruler which help to draw the bias line on the paper pattern easily.

 I have used the see-through rulers over the years and decide to design mine with all the lines and measurements I know I needed in order to simplify the patternmaking and grading process.
